Why we are different

We mix natural materials with simple designs; palm leaf, raffia, banana fibre, horn, leather, bone and soapstone. With well over a thousand items to choose from, Banana Boat has the biggest selection of unusual and stylish crafts and interior accessories in Uganda.

Banana Boat provides work opportunities for local crafters, small entrepreneurs and women’s groups.

We pay on delivery and advance capital to buy materials, as well as giving interest free loans. We favour hand-made over factory made, natural over synthetic. We like using pure and natural materials and selling recycled items.

Our paper products (www.papercraftafrica.com) are hand made in Uganda using recycled paper and natural fibres. Our beautiful recycled paper bead jewellery made out of old cereal packets and magazines. Our coloured glass is hand blown out of old wine bottles.

If you are happy with your purchase from Banana Boat then we are happy that we can keep our producers busy and help them to maintain a regular income following the principles of Fair Trade. Banana Boat is a sustainable and independent business.

Our Shops

The 3 Banana Boat shops are easy to find and only 5 minutes apart from one another. Each shop is different, but if you are looking for tribal art, the Banana Boat shop in Kisementi has the biggest selection. The Kisementi shop is near Acacia Mall next to Endiro Café. At Lugogo Mall our shop is located between Game and Shoprite and in Garden City we are on the ground floor.

Opening times are:

Week Days: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

Sundays and Holidays: 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Lugogo Mall shop opens from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on Sundays and Holidays.
